In the event of more severe transport damage, please contact us immediately with a photo of the damage. We will find a solution!
PACKAGING
A little information about our packaging
Why do you use canisters instead of bottles?
There are a few reasons why we chose the tin canister as the best packaging for our olive oil:
The canister is light and square and therefore saves resources when transporting it.
The canister is airtight and opaque. This protects the content as best as possible.
In Germany, tinplate has a significantly better recycling rate than glass of over 90%. One of the reasons for this is that tinplate is magnetic and is simply fished out in the sorting systems using huge magnets.
How do you open the canister?
To open the canister, you have to pull up two tabs on the side of the black lid. These then serve as handles to pull out the grommet. Then you can simply unscrew the lid. To avoid spills when pouring, do not pour too slowly and stop pouring abruptly rather than slowly.
THE PRODUCT
Important information about our products
Are your products vegan, gluten-free, raw food, and so on?
We are often asked whether our products are vegan or gluten-free, kosher or raw.
And we answer YES with a clear conscience, because olive oil and our OELives are naturally vegan, gluten-free, halal and kosher-neutral.
Even if they don't carry either seal, we'll explain why and how here:
VEGAN - In the oil mill where our olive oils are produced, only olives are processed. No additives are permitted. The extra virgin olive oil we sell is therefore naturally vegan. Purchasing a vegan label would be a complete waste of money, which we would then have to pass on to the product price. That's why we don't have a vegan label.
OELiven's production facility processes exclusively olives and other vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. The olives are fermented with salt and citric acid and then marinated with oil, vinegar, and herbs.
GLUTEN-FREE - Both olive oil and olives are naturally gluten-free. Since no grains are processed in either processing facility, gluten contamination is also ruled out. Here, too, we have refrained from purchasing an expensive seal, which would further drive up the price.
RAW FOOD - Extra virgin olive oil must not be heated above 27°C during production, so it is naturally raw.
Whether olives, which are always fermented because they are otherwise inedible, should be considered raw food is a matter of opinion. We refrain from doing so. Everyone who wants to eat a raw food diet must decide for themselves how to handle fermented foods. Furthermore, very brief exposure to high temperatures is required when filling the olives into jars to ensure the vacuum seal.
KOSHER - Since plant-based foods are naturally considered neutral in the kosher diet, we have dispensed with the very expensive kosher certification.
HALAL - Our products are naturally halal as plant-based foods, which is why we have dispensed with expensive certification here as well.
How long does the oil last?
If stored properly, olive oil will last for at least 18 months.
Do you have a store in Berlin?
Unfortunately, we no longer have an office with storage capacity. However, we have a partnership with Buchkantine Taudtmann in Berlin-Moabit. You can always find (almost) all of our products there in the store: Buchkantine Taudtmann, Dortmunder Str. 1, 10555 Berlin, Tel: +49 30 94883728
